Striking “The Middle C”

Striking “The Middle C”

The world is in crisis.  Humanity is in a precarious place.

Every year 1.5 million children die of hunger, yet there is more than enough food in the world to feed them.

Over a billion people lack access to safe drinking water and 2.6 billion lack access to basic sanitation, yet there is enough technological resource and finance to solve the problem.

There is even the will to solve the problem.

We currently have the resources, the man power and the will power to solve most of the worlds acute physical suffering.

So what’s the real problem?

In the words of Ken Wilber:

“For the first time in history we are experiencing a global crisis, that requires a global solution.

What the world needs is individuals with an extraordinary creativity that can take a global view and bring its own unique creative talents to bear on these global issues.

More than any time historically, we desperately need authentic selves on the path to liberation that can grasp a global problem, and apply creative genius to it.

For the first time ever, this problem will not be resolved just by governments, or NGO’s, or Capitalism, or even rock stars.  There are many agendas, many perspectives and many projects to help resolve the crisis, but taking a look around… it all seems so complex.  The world has become messy, hyper and chaotic… it’s hard to know where or how to start.

The exciting truth is, this crisis will be resolved by ALL OF US.  We each have a unique part to play in this incredible world symphony.

All we need to do, is get in concert.

How do we get in concert?

Like any good orchestra, we have to strike a middle c.  By striking a middle c, we bring harmony out of the chaos.  By finding harmony, we discover our unique talent.  By finding our unique talent we also find the place for our unique talent.
Within this context (the most compelling context on the face of the planet) we make a genuine contribution to the resolution of the whole system.  Even if its not fully resolved in our life time, we have the fulfillment of knowing that we contributed in the most meaningful way that we possibly could.

Striking your middle c is finding that one thing that you do that lights you up, and lights up those around you.  It could be writing a song, overcoming obstacles, reaching a goal, helping others…

This isn’t just a nice thought, or a beautiful metaphor, i’ts an essential reality.
One that’s founded on hard and soft sciences, and the world leading schools of thought.  It’s also something you can find in your own experience right now.

In this series of posts, I describe how we can strike a “middle c” in three different contexts:

–  In your personal development, expressed as a new level of thinking.
–  In culture as expressed by a new art movement.
–  In Techno-Economic Development as expressed by a new level of success.

These contexts interconnect in surprising and elegant ways, as you will see.

By discovering and aligning with these principles, the benefits to you and those around you are genuinely transformational.  Take a look at the picture in this post.  Here we see individuals connecting and rooted in their unique contribution; co-creating projects that change the world.  The effect is symphonic.  Solos become quartets.  Quartets become symphonies.

Also, it is my honour to tell the story of people I have met who are striking their middle c, and whose SoulScape I have painted.

These radical souls (some being world class athletes, or business leaders… or people like you and me who overcome adversity and want to light up other people) have told me their story… and it’s time you heard it.  They want to inspire you to higher levels of possibility and potential.

In the mean time, Id love to hear from you.

How do you strike your middle c?

What happens to you when you do?

What happens to those around you when you do?
